Saint Cosme is arguably my favorite Rhone producer. They make lovely, balanced reds that are one of the best values in French wines for the quality of the product. They often rely more on Syrah rather than Grenache for their blends (as is more typical in the southern Rhone) which adds to their complexity. This level of wine is made from estate-grown fruit and is cofermented in 20% wood and 80% concrete tanks.
A wonderfully balanced example of the classic style from this region. Spicy, slightly smoky and, though totally dry, full of blackberry fruit.
